“In a nutshell, that’s an amazing deal – no matter your needs, it’s a handy tool to have.

As a renovation professional with a small team, including one employee besides myself, I can vouch for the excellence of these ladders. I own four of this ladder style – two with 3 rungs, one with 5 rungs, and another with 6 rungs, all from the Warner brand or similar. These ladders are incredibly versatile; a 3 or 4-rung version can tackle about 90% of the tasks I encounter.

However, there are some drawbacks to consider. They are notably heavy, surpassing the weight of fixed stepladders or extension ladders of comparable length. The 6-rung ladder, in particular, pushes the limits of what I can safely handle alone at full extension, being an average-built individual.

Another point to note is their conductivity, making them unsuitable for electricians. And, when fully extended, the 5 and 6 rung ladders tend to be bouncy. Although it won’t break, the movement can be quite unnerving.

Despite these drawbacks, the overall versatility and utility make these ladders an excellent choice for a wide range of tasks in the renovation field.”

“I’ve been using my Gorilla ladder for work nearly every day for the past 20 years, and it’s still going strong. It’s essentially the same as a Little Giant, but the best part is, I got it for about half the cost. This ladder has been my reliable companion through countless tasks, and its enduring quality has truly made it a fantastic deal.”

“I’ve got the Werner version, and honestly, I’m not a fan. It’s heavy and quite cumbersome. The extension ladder is ridiculously bouncy, and even though it’s probably safe, it can be unsettling, especially if you’re not entirely comfortable with extension ladders.

If you’re thinking of using it indoors, like inside a house, I’d recommend considering something else. However, it works fine outdoors as a very sturdy step ladder, provided you can manage the weight.

On the other hand, my experience with a Gorilla 6ft aluminum stepladder has been great. I’ve had it for years, and I can’t complain about anything.”

showMeTheSnow says:

“I initially started with Werner but eventually switched to Little Giant because they were significantly lighter, and weight was crucial for someone else who also used it.

This summer, I picked up a Gorilla ladder from Craig’s List for another location to avoid the hassle of hauling a ladder around. While I’ve only used it a couple of times, it comes with some cool features and is remarkably easy to use. It’s a bit heavier than the Little Giant, more in line with the Werner, and lacks the wheels that the Little Giant has. However, overall, I have no complaints – it’s very solid and offers great value for the money, especially considering the price. I snagged a used one for around 50 bucks, so needless to say, I was thrilled with the deal.”

“I’ve owned several of these (Gorilla ladders), and unfortunately, three of them have been stolen – that should give you a clear picture.

If you’re frequently moving between different sites, especially if there’s a need to transit inside buildings, these ladders are excellent. However, for home use, a standard A-frame ladder is a more cost-effective and user-friendly choice. It’s a good investment if you only plan to own one, especially if you often need to transport it in a standard-sized car. For instance, my 3-step ladder fits comfortably behind the driver’s seat of a compact hatchback.

Keep in mind that they are heavy and bulky, particularly the 5-step and above variants. I would suggest trying one out before committing, especially if you’re considering a 5-step or larger.

It’s crucial not to confuse these with ladders that have three pivot points. Those, in my opinion, are the work of the devil. I’ve witnessed and experienced 90% of ladder injuries from the three-pivot ones collapsing.”

From the ads, I see no advantage to the featherlight. Save your money and go for Gorilla. As it’s been said, they aren’t the lightest things out there, but if you just want one ladder for around the house, they do it all. I’m a roofer and own dozens of ladders, and I still find a use for my two little giants/gorillas/whatever brand they are.

7. BrotherRich2021 says:

I have the Gorilla ladder and have had no issues with it. Easy to manipulate height and move around. Very happy with it. Owned for about 3 years.

8. Tindjin says:

I don’t know about the Featherlite. I have owned a Gorilla ladder from Home Depot for about 7-8 years now and have zero issues with it. I’ve used it in various A-frame configurations and also fully extended, and I weighed about 300 lbs for most of that time.
